  • It’s Worth It

Written by Donna Mitchell for The Life “You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Similarly, if anyone [...]

If Jesus was present, what would He say to us?

I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.1 Thank you for your faithfulness.  You have taken up your cross to follow me – to lose your life for my sake so that you may experience life as the Father intended.2

Today, I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I call you faithful friends, for everything that I learned from my Father, I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you may go and bear fruit—fruit that will endure…3  I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”4

Blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.5

When they ask you – why do you do these things? Tell them what you have seen and heard. Remind them of the words in Luke’s gospel: freedom for the prisoners; sight for the blind; freedom for the oppressed; the good news for the poor; the Lord’s favour toward a hurting world.6

Persevere through the trials and tribulations. Remember, in this world, you will experience trouble, but rejoice, I have overcome the world.7

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.8 Do not let the enemy deceive and distract you. I am with you always.9 I will give you the words and wisdom for the moment – in any circumstance or situation.10

You are the blessed of my Father. Thank you for being faithful…

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me…’ ‘…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ 11

Freely you have received; now, freely give. 12

May the Spirit of the Lord be upon you, because he has anointed you to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent you to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”13

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few…14 You are my witnesses.15 Now, go, like lambs among wolves, and continue to be my hands and feet to a broken and hurting world.
