Connecting Streams: Rejuvenated Purpose

Summer is a time of rest and renewal.  Long days and warmer weather provide the perfect setting taking a much needed break and spending more time with loved ones.  We can take advantage of this season of renewal by spending more time with the Lord.  Use this time to reflect on your life with Christ and allow your heart to open up to opportunities of service.  We can come into the fall season with a rejuvenated purpose and embark on great adventures of faith.

As we lay down at Jesus’ feet we can reflect on this powerful prayer from Roy Lessin.

“Jesus I choose to be wholly yours; thank you that you have come to be wholly mine. I lose my life in your life; I put my faith in your faithfulness; I find my song in your joy. You are my portion forever, my hope, my purpose, my life. Thank you that you are my only glorious, wondrous, marvelous option! I embrace you with all my heart, I follow you with all my will, I worship you with all my adoration.” – Roy Lessin, Meet me in the Meadow.

This summer, may we find our song in His joy.

Verse of the Month

“… Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” – Matthew 28:18-20

Video of the Month

Connecting Streams held its Ministry Celebration and Volunteer Appreciation event in May.  We had volunteers share their testimonies and faith adventure stories and were able to have it recorded.  Here is the first video of many that share the exciting stories of Connecting Streams volunteers who have said ‘YES!’ to following Jesus into a hurting world.  Click the image to view the video.

Testimony from Jamal

Jamal is a volunteers through Connecting Streams at the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre.  He works with the men’s group there.  During the Connecting Streams Volunteer Appreciation and Celebration Evening he shared his experiences.

“I speak all the time in different places but this is different because when they come there, they listen to you for two hours,” said Jamal.  The men at the prison want to be there.  They want to hear the good news.

“One particular gentlema couldn’t wait to give his life to Christ,” shared Jamal.   “In the middle of the teaching he raised his hand and said ‘How do I give my life to Jesus Christ because I’m tired.’  So we see stuff like that and that is a blessing for us.”

News from Saskatoon

If you are not aware, initially Wilna van Beek agreed to provide leadership to Connecting Streams launch in Saskatoon.  However, there have been some major changes and very stressful situations occur in Wilna’s life; consequently she stepped down from her responsibilities as the leader for  Connecting Streams in Saskatoon.

We continue to pray into our expansion into Saskatoon.  Our vision and mandate is to help connect the church with a hurting world.  We consider it a privilege to help believers follow Jesus into a hurting world by intentionally reaching out to the broken and hurting and marginalized.
