Connection Streams: Ripe for the Harvest

Connecting Streams held it’s annual Celebration & Volunteer Appreciation Event on May 26th at Sherwood Park Alliance Church.  The evening began with worship led by Lana Wilkins and her team.  This created an atmosphere of celebration and thanksgiving, preparing our hearts to hear from Connecting Streams leaders and volunteers as they shared their testimonies of God’s faithfulness and their personal faith experiences.

Every testimony reiterated and affirmed God’s call to ongoing commitment, perseverance, and surrendering self for His kingdom.  Volunteers shared stories about God’s favour and grace, as he uses willing committed hearts to reach out to the ‘least of these.’

There is a never ending ripple effect to our steps of faith as the Lord changes lives – our own included! The fields are ripe for the harvest! If we will “be bothered” to do what He asks, the blessings are beyond what words can express!

Are you ready to follow Jesus into a hurting world?

Verse of the Month

“Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.”  John 4:35-36 (NIV)

Sharing the Journey Event – An Inspirational Success!

Sharing the Journey, an event ran by Women’s Journey of Faith (WJOF) in Saskatoon on April 27th, was a time of encouragement, inspiration, laughter, sound teaching, accountability and fellowship.

“I got up this morning with an enlarged heart. Not in a bad way that runs the risk of health problems- but in a supercharged faith lifted world changing sort of way. Reflecting on our Sharing the Journey seminar…it is superlatively evident that EVERYONE needs encouragement, laughter, inspiration, sound teaching, spiritual-authentic-relational friendships to stay focused and strong in Christ! One of my favourite things is to cast God sized dreams in the hearts of others!”  shared Jodi Kozan, founder of WJOF.

Joining God’s A-Team

By Allan Mitchell

Have you ever been a part of a team? If you have, you would appreciate the importance of team synergy in relation to team success. Recently, at a ministry training seminar, the speaker emphasized the necessity and importance of team and the collective commitment of individual team members. Her words prompted me to pay attention – I sensed God saying something all ministry volunteers needed to hear.

As I listened intently, I realized that each volunteer team is a microcosm of the larger team called the church, and to communicate the gospel effectively to a ministry audience and help fulfill the Great Commission, a ministry team must reflect a cohesive committed group that authentically reflects the character and love of Jesus.

In John chapter 13, Jesus models authentic love in selfless servitude: “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.  Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” Jesus summarizes and reiterates His message by saying, “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
