As I was sitting with a friend last week, she suddenly turned to me and confided, “I feel like I have been awakened from a deep sleep!” My heart could hardly contain my excitement. Why did that thrill me?
Only the week prior she had had the opportunity to share her story and His story while teaching worship dance to women who “sleep” in prison…and she has been awakened as a result! That’s exactly what we are praying will happen when women step out in faith to embark upon the adventures He’s called them to.
I’ve been reading The Forgotten Ways by Alan Hirsch. In one of my favorite portions, he reiterates that “too much concern with safety and security, combined with comfort and convenience, has lulled us out of our true calling and purpose.”
Hirsch goes on to comment that “…all great missionary movements begin at the fringes of the church, among the poor and the marginalized, and seldom, if ever, at the center…It seems that when the church engages at the fringes, it almost always brings life to the center.”
As we begin to follow where He leads to give our lives away on behalf of others, we come to life. It’s a promise…and a revelation of His heartbeat.
“If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.”…”For I was hungry, and you fed Me. I was thirsty, and you gave Me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited Me into your home. I was naked, and you gave Me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for Me. I was in prison, and you visited Me.” ~ Jesus (Matthew 16:24,25; 25:35,36 NLT)

Inspirational Video of the Month: “Jesus Glasses”
From the Athletes in Action Academy, check out this “faith adventure challenge” from Doug Pollock (author of God Space) that we offer our eyes to Christ in consecration. Let our prayer be, “Give us eyes to see the world and the people who cross my path today the way You do, Lord”. Do you get up in the morning and put your “Jesus Glasses” on? Paul modeled this for us in Acts 17. Start observing the context in which you’ll be ministering and watch God speak to you with clarity and discernment as you take in your surroundings.
Quote of the Month:
“When we share the Good News of Jesus and His Kingdom, we become transformed in the process. It is not simply those who hear the Gospel that are transformed, but also those who share it!”
~ Merv Budd, National Director, Equipping Evangelists
God’s Invitation to Adventure
Inside each of us is a desire to leave the ordinary behind and experience the extraordinary plan the Lord has for us. We long to make a difference in this world. The Lord is calling “Come, follow Me” into a world desperately needing a Savior. An adventure awaits if we will say “yes.”
Envision women arising, taking intentional steps into a hurting world to put love into action and share the truth about Jesus Christ. As we experience God’s love and His ability to change lives, He transforms our hearts in the process.
In Luke 5:10b, 11 Jesus replied to Simon, “’Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!’ And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.” Read more…
